Daniel Barrera is a sports broadcaster based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He currently provides play-by-play for San José State Athletics on the Mountain West Network, calling women’s basketball, baseball, softball, women’s soccer, and volleyball. Daniel also calls men’s soccer on the WAC Digital Network and serves as a fill-in broadcaster for San José State Spartan Men’s Basketball on the radio and Santa Clara Broncos baseball, softball, volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer on ESPN+. Daniel’s experience goes beyond the college level as he also provides play-by-play in a fill-in capacity for both the Stockton Ports and San Jose Giants, Single-A MILB affiliates of the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, on commercial radio and MILB TV. His basketball broadcasting also extends to the professional ranks as he is a featured play-by-play voice for the Women’s Premier Basketball Association (WPBA).
In addition, he has provided football play-by-play for the Bay Area Panthers of the Indoor Football League (IFL) on KNBR 1050, and at the high school level, launched the Barrera Broadcasting High School Football Game of the Week, providing play-by-play for a select game every week of the high school football season. Daniel also works as a play-by-play broadcaster for the NFHS Network, covering CCS High School Football Playoffs and Championship games.
Prior to his current roles, Daniel worked for 95.7 The Game in San Francisco as the Network Coordinator for USF Dons Basketball, and before that, as the Director of Broadcasting and inaugural “Voice” of the Casper Horseheads, a summer collegiate wood bat baseball team in the Expedition League. His radio experience also extends outside the world of sports as he created the only weekly news radio show on the San José State University campus, entitled SJSU This Week, in the Spring of 2017, further showcasing his diverse media skill set.
