Daniel Barrera is a sports broadcaster currently based in San José, CA. He recently graduated from San José State University with a master’s degree in Mass Communications and had previously obtained his bachelor’s degree in English from the same school. His sports media career started in January, 2015 when he began broadcasting live collegiate sporting events such as basketball, baseball, football, and hockey for the campus radio station 90.5 FM KSJS. In addition to serving in both play-by-play and color commentary roles, Daniel has also acted as an in-studio engineer and board operator for numerous broadcasts, and has provided live in-studio updates on the world of sports during halftime and intermission of events. During the Spring of 2017, Daniel created the only weekly news radio show on the San José State University campus, entitled SJSU This Week.
Daniel has also previously worked for NBC Sports Bay Area and 95.7 FM The Game in San Francisco. He has also provided play-by-play for San José State baseball and women’s soccer on the Mountain West Network and official San José State Athletics website, Cal State Monterey Bay men’s and women’s basketball, as well as select games for the Vallejo Admirals independent baseball team. Daniel has also provided play-by-play for the streaming service Black Dog Enterprises, covering hockey tournaments for the media organization. This past summer Daniel served as the Director of Broadcasting and inaugural “Voice” of the Casper Horseheads, a team in the Expedition League, a summer collegiate wood bat baseball league.
